300 to be killed – Happy Christmas!

By this time next month around 300 people will have been violently killed in Britain and thousands more seriously injured.

This ferocious wave of violence will result from anti-social behaviour and lawlessness on an epic scale, aided by machinery designed to flout health and safety laws, all carried out under the benign, passive gaze of the police and the absolute indifference of the three main political parties.

At a national level it will barely be reported. Newspapers like the Times, Independent and Guardian will continue to advertise fuel-guzzling machines designed to flout the national maximum speed limit (anyone else spot that the Guardian’s two page spread on Bali was sensitively juxtaposed with an ad for a high speed luxury car?) as well as SatNavs which alert the driver to the imminence of speed cameras. And you are randomly at risk from the perpetrators of this violence whether or not you are in a car, on a bicycle, walking across a road, walking on a pavement, or even lying in bed.

Take care! (Spend Christmas in a nuclear bunker.)
